I bought this tilt trim unit thinking it might work on my 90 but it looks different side by side. Now I need to ID it so I can get rid of it without just throwing it away.I will try to attach pics.Any help will be appreciated.

What year\model motor are you wanting to put this on?

Re: tilt trim identity

Are there any numbers other than the 2J-1121 stamped anywhere on it? The part number you need is 6H1-43800-17-4D which does not come anywhere close to the 2J-1121 number. Anyone else know what this thing came off of?

The 1st one is the one that my motor uses. Its a 1986 yamaha 115 ETLJ. Hope it can help you somehow.

Re: tilt trim identity

Well, the 86 115 takes a part number 6E5-43800-06-EK, which also cross references in the master parts catalog to 6E5-43800-08-EK (not sure why, but it's listed right next to it). I thought Yamaha was usually pretty good about stamping a part number on major components, but I guess I was wrong. Anyone else want to take a stab at what this unit is?

Re: tilt trim identity

one of the differences between certain years is that the tilt cylinder seals are replaceable.

I put a 1987 90 tilt/trim on a 1996 40. fit perfectly
