I just replaced the t/t motor on my '85 115hp Seadrive and I have an issue with it. It runs fine going up but when you want it down the motor runs about 2 seconds and you can hear it trip out internally. Wait a couple minutes, hear the overload in the motor reset and it will run another 2 seconds and trip again.thank
Could this be a bad motor or could I have an internal hydraulic issue? I replaced the seals in both the tilt and trim cylinders and installed new relays.

Thanks,
Larry

Re: Tilt/Trim Issue! OMC Seadrive

If you're saying that a circuit breaker (if it exists) within the motor trips and the electric motor actually stops running..... then yes, that normally indicates that you have a faulty electric motor.

However, before removing it, run jumper wires directly from the battery to the electric motor as a test. If the electric motor now runs properly, the problem is that the wiring to the electric motor is at fault which is resulting in a voltage drop.
