tilt/trim lift

Went onto lake today and could not drop the motor down ( Johnson 1996 200hp venom ). When you press the buttons on the throttle lever or the buttons on the motor itself you can hear the relays clicking in and out but the motor did not drop. How are the pistons operated. Are they hydraulic or on a screw thread? Any help or advice gratefully recieved.

They are hydraulic.

There is a manual release on the side of the engine mounting bracket. It is a screw recessed in an opening. Only a slight turn is needed to relieve the pressure.

Assuming the solenoids just switch and reverse the supply to the motor, is there a in line fuse or overload with the motor supply?
