Hi all... I'm new to this board so bear with me.
1991 mercury 60hp ser#OD035776.
Tilt quit working. I disconnected the 2 wires going to the tt motor and applied 12v&gnd. motor wouldn't work. pulled tt motor and it had water inside, brushes gone, arm. burned.
I need a motor but can't find just a motor by itself.
The motor is a 2 wire 2 1/4 dia. drop in motor.
( motor fits inside the top of the reservoir unit)
All I find available is motor with res unit.
To replace it I would have to pull the tt unit off the engine.
Questions finally
1. Does anyone know where I can get just a motor?
2. How do I pull the tt unit. It is a single ram.
thanks,
Dudley

Re: Tilt trim problem

it's pretty easy to remove the tt unit on this model:
(excuse my english, i'm french speaking)
1. disconnect the green and blue wires into the cowling (just behind the oil reservoir)
2. lift the motor, engage the tilt lock lever
3. remove the crosspin and the upper retaining pin with a punch
3. remove the anode at the bottom of the bracket and do the same thing to the lower pin (there's a hole to push on it just under the release valve access)
