Hello,
We have a 1997 2 stroke 50HP Johnson (J50TLEUC). The Tilt and Trim works great other than it will not hold. :( We can't find any leaks anywhere and it has plenty of fluid. We have bleed it several times and keep getting air in it. Any ideas?? Please help!!

it still has air in it. filling must be down with the motor all the way up.

Tilt motor all the way up and lock it there, open , fill, close. Unlock, lower motor all the way down. Now back up, lock, fill, close, lower. Repeat, repeat, repeat..

Use Dextrin II auto trans fluid, or power steering fluid.

Thanks for the reply, but we have repeated these steps about a 100 times with no luck. We do have another question. We got this motor used and when we went to pick it up the trim motor was all rusted to pieces and falling apart, so we got a new one. We did notice there was some trash in the bowl, we did clean it out as best we could but is there a chance we missed some and that is what is causing the problem. If so what is the best way to clean it out and flush it? Thanks

Is there one hole or two? Just keep repeating is there any valve to bleed the air of or does that happen automatically?
