tilt trim system flush?

I have an '86, 70 HP Johnson with factory tilt/trim. It had a bad tilt/trim motor and I replaced it. Anyway, the oil is a milky tan color like it has water in it. Is there a way to change out the oil without removing the entire unit? The unit works, just don't want to damage it.

I don't think it has water in it, the oil is a light tan already, and maybe it's just a little frothy from air bubbles

Thanks, I topped off the tilt/trim unit and it seems to function fine. My feelings were that if it had water getting into the system, then the oil should be leaking out somewhere, and I found no evidence of leaks.

if it had water in it, it would look more like coffee full of creamer, I know the power trim fluid looks similar but it get a little stirred up and frothy and can be misleading. plus it would have to be getting serious water in it to do that, like being submerged and have bad seals in it

My mechanic buddy who helped me with the motor is convinced it is water in the oil (it DOES look like coffee full of creamer). The T/T unit works, but how do you drain the oil and replace it? Do you have to remove the unit from the outboard "j" brackets?
