Thanks for all you do!! by the way, it has the omc 4.3 cobra engine. if thta helps!!

Re: tilt/trim

There are a couple of 50A breakers on the engine, one is for the trim system. Check them with a meter to make sure they work, don't assume if it's pushed in it's ok.
Here is some info on testing the relay box on the pump itself.

Come back one way or the other and let us know what the problem was. Someone else could benefit with what you find.

Remove the two motor wires (C&G in the drawing above) and jumper them directly to the battery and see if the motor runs. It could be locked up.
Doesn't matter if which one goes on which battery terminal, all it does is reverses the direction of the motor.

Alrighty!! Jumpered the 2 power wires. Still just clicked away!! So, I'm taking it as the motor is locked up! Direct me to a descent priced trim motor. Thnx!!

It seems to me that you identified the boat but maybe not the trim motor itself. Is it known for absolute positive to be a 2w trim motor? some 3w motors only have 2 wires showing. they use a frame ground. If it was 3w motor then clicking and sparking without any spinning would be a normal reaction. If it was a 3w trim motor then you have to ground the frame and touch 12Vdc to only one wire at a time.

Re: tilt/trim

Well, it's all Greek to me! It looks like the pic above. Only the relay is attached to the trim motor itself. I will say, when I jumper wired it, it was clicking with only one wire attached.

Re: tilt/trim

Yes sir I did. The only thing different from the diagram above is that G is doesn't run to the pump. The one above it does. G is a small black wire on my setup.

I don't have a clue why you have a black wire anywhere than what is shown in the drawing. But its not right if that black wire is actually a ground wire. It MUST be wired like the drawing if you want it to work.

The fact that the motor clicks when you touch one wire, indicates the motor is shorted to ground internally.

Re: tilt/trim

Well, nobody has changed the wiring. And it wont wire up the other way, cuz the connectors aren't the right size or wires long enough. It has 2 big terminals and 3 small. The 2 big wires and terminals go straight to the pump. The other small to switch.

We have one disadvantage, we can't see what you see. Post a picture so we can see what we are dealing with.

Re: tilt/trim

Well, my drawing is wrong, and I removed it. Looks like I picked the wrong diagram to copy.

If you jumpered the two wires going to the motor, then you need a new trim motor.
