I have a 1990 Evinrude 150XP i got for fairly cheap but the little things are starting to add up. I plan on fixing up and painting this motor and rigging it to my boat over the winter when I have some down time. It came with controls and dual cable steering cables and helm. One cable worked and pulled right out when I removed it from the donor boat but the other had to be cut with a sawzall. After heat, PB Blaster, and increasingly large hammers I am sure that both the cable and the tilt tube will not come out. There is enough gap between the two brackets that the tube goes through to fit a sawzall blade. My plan is to cut both sides in order to seperate the 2 brackets and then maybe use a punch to remove the remaining tilt tube and buy a new tube. Anyone see anything wrong with this plan or have anything to add? Thanks, Scott
