Time to replace tires?

Just noticed some slight weather checking on the sidewalls of my trailer tires ... 2-axle steel trailer with 7,000lb boat. I bought the rig 2 years ago. No date code on the tires - I suspect they COULD be 6-10 years old. The trailer has always been stored indoors. Tires are Firestone Transforce HT. Tread is good. I only put on about 1000 miles (<65 mph) per season.

I'm looking for a 'sign' to tell me to replace my tires. What would it be?

The fact you are posting this is your "sign"...you wisely are concerned about the state of your tires...so the smart move is to replace them. WHY take any chance?

Fed regulation for tires to have a date code, look on the inside. 4 digites, first 2 digit month, next 2 is year

Being the tires are HT and not ST tells me they have been replaced at least once. ST Trailer, HT Truck

How big of a gambler are you ? Especially towing a 7000# boat ?

If you see sidewall cracking, the tires should have been replaced several years ago. ST tires are poor to begin with. They age out before they wear out.

A good rule is to replace them every 4 years, period.

Hey , it aint all bad , I just got 500 bucks for a pair of 18 year old Michelin motorbike tires ( 120-60-16 & 160-60-16 ). Guy is restoing an early 851 Ducati and wanted factory supplied tires to make it right .😁
