I finally found a new distributor cap for my new challenge, a 1969 chrysler 105. Shaved head, installed new gasket and distributor, replaced a couple of wires and now she's alive again. Compression 155-160 in all cylinders so I am really happy.

I ordered a manual but I'd like to get out on the water this weekend and fine tune.
Does anyone know the timing and carb adjustments? Also idles fast and can't find an adjustment, maybe will correct with proper timing and carb adjustment.

Any info is greatly appreciated and happy boating.

Jon

That sounds like pretty high compression...how much did you shave the heads?

Rich

You shouldn't need but the middle grade of gasoline...your compression is about normal for that motor in good shape...there are a couple of ignition systems for that year motor so I can only say that you maximum timing advance at wot is 30. If you have points they are set at .010".
If you have a good battery you can remove and ground the plugs, then set the timing with a timing light...that might get you on the water this weekend. You can adjust the idle by adjusting the link between the towershaft and the carb linkage. Low speed jets are generally about 1 turn up from gentle bottom. Hope this helps. You still need the book to do the job properly tho...just a Thought
