Hey guys, I was at Schucks picking up gaskets for my 4.3L 96 VP motor and I noticed that if I order the plastic timing chain cover it is 50 bucks but they have a cool generic chrome one for 25 bucks that fits all GM Small blocks. I am freshwater use only. Do you think it is ok to use the chome one rather than the plastic one?

Take your old plastic one and compare the two before you buy.
Draw a line around your old one on a piece of cardboard, and mark the bolt holes.
My bet is they won't replace the plastic one. I have seen some ads for the chrome ones, and they are all of the old stamped steel type.
BUT,,,,,,, I can't see your Schucks part.
