I've run the new powwerhead in gently on a 1969 125hp in-line 6. Now it's time to set up the timing correctly.

Clams and many others have stressed that in-line 6's should have maximum advance of 21degrees. The front of this motor states 35 degrees advance!! And the timing marks on the flywheel go from 4 to 10 degrees and then a gap until 30 to 55 degrees. Quite some difference.

Anyone have experience in these older motors and knowing if they actually DO require more advance?

Also - there is no long metal tube for the exhaust gas to go from the powerhead down to the lower unit. My 1977 115hp did have one. Any reason why this would be different?
