I am trying to get my 1986 30 Hp motor synced but am having a hard time getting it dialed in. I have a manual and all but it really isn't all that great.
I couldn't get the timing on the motor set. Here's the story
The motor is originally a pull start that I converted to an electric start. I purchased all the parts from the same place and changed all the old parts out except the flywheel. Now when I try to check the timing on the motor it is way off. Adjusting the timing has only a minimal effect. I think it was somewhere around 120 degress when it needs to be 30. The only part I didn't change was the flywheel. Could that make my timing reading off?
The motor seems to be running okay though and runs okay on the water.
It is inconsistant most of the time when idling. Sometimes idles great, others not so great.
Any tips or suggestions.
