What is customary for tipping the barber? I used to tip $1.00 back when haircuts were around $8.00 Now they're 12 to 13 bucks, but I'm still tipping $1.00 What do you guys do?

Re: Tipping the barber

My daughter cuts my hair. That is her profession for now. Yeah, being her father, I still tip her, as in giving her tips on how to keep her parents happy! :p

Re: Tipping the barber

I have cut my own hair for 30 years. Tip depends on the state of the bar and time of day. :)

Re: Tipping the barber

I usually go to a cuban barber shop. And I tip 2-3 bucks. This weekend I went to a barber shop where I take my kids and I tipped the nice lady 5. Today I see it wasnt THE best hair cut IMO but her hands made my head happy so she won it fair and square. When I need some more TLC I'll go back and wait for her. ;)

PS- I wish I could cut my own hair JB but my lazy-eye wont allow it. I envy those who can.

Re: Tipping the barber

I got tired of paying what I feel is ridiculous prices for hair cuts, so I got my wife some good scissors and if she does a good job I will give her a tip. Last hair cut I gave her $5. Ain't I generous? :D

Re: Tipping the barber

Not my guide lines. I googled. Most sound like they are in line but like KaGee said some are a little rediculous.

I feel if someone is making a fair wage to begin with Im not going to tip them unless they went out of their way.

Ill also say that for the most part I tip 15 to 20 % usually toward the 20% range sometimes more. Always depends on the service, not the goods.

This is a thread for people with hair, people that have to spend money on shampoo and stuff like that. Not my problem.
