TKS 4 barrell vs 4 barrell HP gains ?

I have a 2005 Glastron 205 with a 5.0 and the TKS 2 barrell carb. I really think there is more HP in that motor if it had the chance to breath better
Has anyone tried the Edelbrock 600 marine on this motor and how has it worked. I also was considering the new throttle body 1000 CFM fuel injection system by holley, any input on that system

My input is that even when you are all done, you'll still have a 305. And it will never run as good as a 350. Also, 600cfm would be overcarburetion for a 305. And 1000cfm is a HUGE waste. Small block Chevies don't need big carburetors, especially not ones with 3.74" pistons.

Ayuh,...

You might see about 20hp from a 4bbl. Carb,...

I agree,... The MPI would be a Waste...

An edelbrock 1409(600cfm) is not too big. If it works on a 4.3, it'll work on a 5.0.

BUT

To get maximum gain out of this(more than the 20hp mentioned above), you will need to replace the intake manifold also. And now we are talking about $700+/- for a relatively small gain. For better bang for the buck you may want to look into things like tabs and propeller selection.

BTW, jpcobra65, you might want to change the title of this post to "TKS 2 barrel v 4 barrel gains", since you have a 2bbl on there now, not a 4 barrel.

Yep, TKS means its a Merc. But it is only a 2brl manifold so it would need to be changed to go to 4brl. Some volvos use a 4brl manifold with a plate, so it is an easier upgrade on the wallet.
