Well to be honest I was not going to say anything at all. But...JB stepped on my toes.<br /><br />I have sat back and watched the Mod's especially JB govern this Forum, with too much predjudice, and generally at the wrong time and dissappoint a lot of people.<br /> If JB wishes this site to be politically correct, and fair to his suppliers, there should be no mention of brand names, no polls, no questions of comparisons etc. <---All this is advertising.<br /><br />Another thing, get your sponsors in here and promote themselves why should we do it for them? People come to this site for help and direction and many of them cannot find their way around it.<---Yes I know we do not have to be here so do not bother stating that. What I am saying is that the sponsors should help out too and make it known they are sponsors.<br /><br />As for the 1 on 1 contact with the members, it is at times a lot easier to help them without backyard specialists trying to help out. I do not mean any disrespect to those that try to help out, but at times it does more damage than good.<br /><br />Now here comes the good part. This is a forum where freedom of speech reigns. I have just expressed my opinion as is my right as a member.<br /><br />Now will JB or the mods del this post or let it stand?<br /><br />The post that JB made should have been in private and done as an email.<br /><br />TMD

I must be missing something obvious here, but can see no negative outcome from the directions generally set by Moderater5 and/or the other moderators on this board, J.B. has a place here as a specialist himself and as a moderator. I can only guess that it makes it even harder for him to post as he's most likely to think long and hard as to how his remarks will affect people.<br />I feel nobody in the moderaters position has made any direct references to products, their suppliers, their preferences or their pricing. At the same time they are in the position of policing this board to ensure outside influences are not able to invagle their way in and take over the host companies right of control. After all this is a free site with tens of thousands of members and if occasionally somebody gets a bit miffed then they must accept that as a part of belonging to a huge site. I've been there and soon realised nobody meant any undue ill on myself.................<br />Ross

I am in somewhat in agreement with TMD.<br /><br />I put in a honest post on a political thought that was not offensive or name calling to anyone.It was a post on the morales in America that I grew up on were slowly disappearing.<br /><br />JB jumped right in on the first post and called me a troll.<br /><br />Calling me a troll is one thing, coming from the moderator of the board is quite another.<br /><br />I think if he wants to post aggressive posts like that he should use 2 screen names . One when he is filling role of moderator and one when he is feeling sassy.<br /><br />There are other moderators on other sites who have adopted this method.<br /><br />Just my thoughts. :)

The problem with drawing lines between what is or isn't acceptable is that it is impossible to do it and please everybody.<br />I don't always agree with JB, but I think he, and the mods generally, do a reasonably good job.<br /><br />Boards like this are never democracies, but rather are led and ruled by a "benevolent" dictator. That's the way it has to be in order to maintain any semblance of control, and make them useful for us amateur backyard mechanics. It is, after all, provided and funded by a for-profit concern.<br /><br />IMO, at least.

MR. TMD= I got a problem too. In your other post you complain that people don't offer help and you complain about that. Do you want the "backyard specialists" as you refer to someone to help out or not? I USED to get paid to work on cars, not any more. Does that make me someone that could do more harm than good? I say check out if ya can't accept the rules here. I violated a few myself, got corrected on them too. I have since learned to tone it down. Have a nice day ;)

Doc, two things, fist you said what you needed to say and your post is still here, unaltered.<br />second if you check out, this forum will be the loser. the information and help you you have provided is of great help to many. JB has said as much. the fact that you and outhers like you take the time every day to go through this forum post by post and offer help and advice like you do says it all.

i think everyone here deserves an opinion. i haven't seen a reply from mods or admins, so i think those others who are posting abrasive remarks to TMD should also remember what they 'preach' as far as being mellow... :D <br /><br />peace - out

Yeah this site does have a tendancy to preach a what we want to see attitude. and will edit to thier own liking, this is WRONG. and will drive people away. Sorry Iboats, your slowy sinking. Attitude is one thing, ethics is another......as a free site for members to post questions, comments-whatever, why must some say it's not right, or, it's wrong to do it that way?????<br />This is a forum we ALL are allowed to use as a source of information, and also as a place to share your knowledge.....I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't sign any contract saying I had ANY SPECIFIC RIGHTS on this forum, and yes, I've had my hands slapped for getting out of line, but looking back, I was out of line in regards to what this forum is for.<br /> I think most here know if you want to have 1 on 1 with a member, some give their email address as part of their signature, others have it listed in their profile.<br /> I feel there are many experts here, and have slowly found my place in the food-chain here, based on my experience. I kinda feel insulted myself as to the "backyard mechanic" statement, as everyone's experience level shows as time goes by. The guys (and Gals)that are here alot, know who to look to for certain info. As members recognize this, they sometimes let "the right guy" give certain info first. I hope at some point in time, I can be the "right guy" sometimes, but I don't feel any well meant replys deserve being knocked as "backyard mechanics".<br /> Simply put guys, we have the "right" to "be here", if we follow the rules. <br /> As for JB's actions, my question is; Who are we to question him????<br /> If there's gonna be Indians, ya gotta have Chiefs........... :rolleyes: <br /><br />chads15, I don't think your personal choices are an issue......If you can help me with info, and I can help you, who cares..... :)
