If you could read, you would see that in my post a backyard mechanic (Joe Blow) made a mix and decided to sell it. He was no chemical engineer and just did trial and error until he got something he thought worked.

I don't want to harp on this...and certainly don't want Frank to set his sights on me , But I'm willing to bet some "Joe Blow" didn't come up with this formula and decide to sell it.

It may have been from a person who didn't work for Dow or Mercury or DuPont, but I'm willing to bet he had some type of chemical engineering/petroleum/scientific background.

SeaFoam, Startron, Stabil and similar products are NOT "fogging" products. They are fuel system stabilizers. Just want to clarify. Fogging Oil is -- well -- fogging oil and can be found under the Stabil and a host of other brand names.

According to the research paultjohnson has done, Mercury fogging oil is:

NAPTHA 78%
PROPANE 12%
N-BUTANE 8%

So, its not really oil in a typical sense at all. As for the other ingredients, a common use of propane and N-Butane is as a propellant. Therefore can we assume that Naptha is all mercury requires for fogging. Now lets take a look at Sea Foam:

Pale Oil 40-60%
Naphtha 25-35%
IPA 10-20%

Pale oil is a naphtha base oil. So it looks to me like SeaFoam would have 65-95% naphtha or naphtha base oil in it. I would say this looks like it would do the same job as the mercury fogging oil.

Also, the Sea Foam directions actually say that it can be used to fog engines. It says it for the sea foam spray right on the website. The MSDS for sea foam spray is the same as for sea foam except for the addition of CO2 for a propellant.

Now obviously a fogging oil needs to be sprayed and the typical sea foam comes in a pour can. I just use a pump spray bottle and that takes care of that.

Seafoam DeepCreep is sold as a fogging oil.
It is the same stuff as the Seafoam fuel additive, just in an aerosol can.

You get more for your $ when you buy the 16 oz can.

Pale oil (lite machine oil)
Naphtha
Iso alcohol
