Hi,
Started on Monday and this is how far we got. (16.5' Wellcraft Air Slot)
Went to go pick up a 140hp Evinrude this afternoon (5 hrs)

I want to order foam and fiberglass tomorrow and pic up the Marine ply.
After reading the foam controversy for the last couple of days I am still not shure what to do, I believe the foam will give a certain amount of rigidity to the hull aswell as act as a sound damper and create a under lay for the ply wood.

What say yea?

Thanks,
Joe.

Pour foam has a bad rap (for good reason). I'd go with block foam if you don't want to worry so much about rot. Either way it will help you structurally and dampen the sound. Bottom line water will find its way in. If it can't get out the 2 part foam will absorb it and accelerate rot.

You need the foam for safety and to stay legal.

Limit your photos to 640 x 480 in size for the forum.

Thanks.

Yup, foam it is. If you pour or spray it in, make sure you leave a path for any water to make its way back to the bildge/drain.

Like Jcsercsa said there are guys on here that like the idea and guys that hate the idea.. Ask Bondo...

This subject has been beat to death, do a search and you can read for hours.

The final choice is up to you.. its your boat.

The way i look at it, is you can foam or not foam. If you decide to use foam then you are going to have to get some foam, eather 2 part or block. Then you would use foam. If you decide not to use foam then you dont need to get any foam. If you decide to use foam then you will have foam under the deck. On the other hand if you do not use foam then you will not have foam under under the deck. If you use foam then you will have foam. If you do not use foam then you will not have foam. Its pretty basic in my opinion.
