really appreciate all the help. But I should have went with my initial thought that the coil was getting weak. Spark just seemed a little weak even though it would jump 1/2 inch. Tested it again, then put a new coil on and it was noticeably stronger. Fired right up, ran like a dream. Checked the timing anyway, and made a minor adjustment, but nothing major.
Its running perfectly now, which is good (despite the money I threw into it trying to find the problem). Holidays start next week for our local Salmon Derby. I was starting to get worried.
thanks again. next time, I'm changing the coil, but I did learn a lot in all this trouble shooting.
