Thanks guys. I appreciate it. It's warm around here (mid 60's), but the lakes are still froze so I've not dug into it much since my last post. I'll pull the flywheel next and see what I see under there.

Bare wire is what I found. How did that happen?
I repaired it and it's much better. Nice blue spark. Thanks guys for all your help.

On the stator and the charge coil there are connection points. The insulation had moved and the bare wire it was grounding to the plate. When the wire that was bare was moving around(how I don't know) it removed more insulation (not much but some) adding to the possibility of grounding out. There was another wire that was headed that way on the coil that I insulated and affixed the insulation better as well. I guess I've never paid attention before this and didn't expect what I found, but know maybe you, I and a few other folks now know that it can happen.
