I have been trying a few different props for the last month and I am torn between the yamaha SWS II 15 3/4 x15P (large diameter) and a SWS I 15 1/4 x17P
I had tested a SWS I from a local dealer and it was perfect WOT RPM 5800. I went back too buy it and they said they do not sell the SWS I anymore..I would be getting a SWS II?
I bought the SWS II same pitch as the demo SWS I (17P) but the larger diameter of the SWS II (15 3/4) made the rpm drop by 500rpm and did not get the correct WOT rpm. I them returned it for a SWS II 15 3/4 x 15P and the WOT is know
5800-6000pm right where it should be. The lower Pitch slips a little more out of the hole but holds the water better and holds plane better with the larger diameter prop.
Its a strange thing from 15P to 17P not much difference in WOT RPM just a 1/2 " in dio though makes a big difference..
My only Q is what prop would give me the better fuel economy? is a few hunderd rpm difference in the mid cruise range 4k rpm make a difference?
