So I recently purchased a boat and I’m chasing electrical gremlins 91 doral cruiser with an alpha one outdrive. Current issue… the trailer button stops where the “trim up” button should, but the trim up button raises it all the way as the trailer button should.
I’ve got the wiring proper as far as I can tell. Purple/white and both Blue/whites to limit switch, purple runs to trailer switch and the rest to the control lever.
Anyone else ever seen this or have some clues?

I am not familiar with systems that have separate buttons for trim and trailer but if one button is doing what the other should and vise versa, then I think a couple of wires got swapped at one end or the other.

Alpha drives have the trim limit switch exposed to the water. It is simply a copper contact and a copper pointer on the outdrive tilt joint, which moves as you trim. The water rots them out.

However, with your description, it sounds like some wires are connected wrong.

if it were me, I would d/c the trim limit switch and wire the trim/tilt to the trim switch directly, bypassing the trim limit switch, and trim by ear and feel. Very few sterndrives will trim up too far to affect the cooling of the motor and still provide thrust w/o ventilation.

You want to trim the motor to max speed and steering wheel effort.

Wiring diagrams are avail on the web.
