trailer jack wheel

several years ago at the Sportsman's Show in Minneapolis there was a guy selling yokes to convert the wheel on a trailer jack to use your spare tire as the wheel. thus the jack became the spare tire carrier and when you wanted to roll your trailer around it was using a 12 in tire and wheel that doesn't sink in to soft ground or fall in every little hole. this was back when exhibit space wasn't so expensive that the small independent guy could acually afford to be an exhibitor. i've talked to a couple of RV places that sort of remember such a trailer jack but have no idea of where to get one. does anybody know of anyone manufacturing such a jack or jack conversion?

i know what you are talking about. but have not seen one in many years. the even had a dolly type thing that was attached to the tongue of the trailer to take the tongue weight with a draw bar. the trailer had 3 wheels.

You could probably fab one up if you have some metalworking skills. If not, have a machine shop build you one.

why not one of these, you could get bigger wheels.

Re: trailer jack wheel

i have one of the trailer dollies with the long handle and it works very well. especially for switching between multiple boats, trailers and a camper. and it will move a trailer over soft ground pretty well but you have to lower the tongue jack on most trailers to fit it. and when i am in the front of the house it is always in the back of the house. just like the wrench you need when you finally get something in place is always just a little out of reach. not a suicidal issue but enough to use a couple of words you can't print here.

that's basically what i am talking about. notice how easily that trailer rolled.
i'm thinking he has the trailer permantly attached to the boat and just hits the shore going full throttle to roll it back up the hill, quickly drops his anchor so it won't roll back down.

Re: trailer jack wheel

I love the video. I looked on google and found some listings for patents for this item. However, I could not find one for sale. I tried the dolly and found it to be difficult to push the boat in gravel. It pulled great. This would make all the difference in the world I think.

If anyone finds one, please let us know.
