I have never seen this type of coupler on a trailer and I am unsure if there is a lock that will secure this while on my truck. Does anyone have any idea on what type of lock I can get that will both secure this trailer when it is on and off of my truck?

Re: Trailer Lock

You see those a lot on u-haul trailers. Not really any way to lock the coupler, if you feel like you need a lock then lock the chains to the truck.

That is the only way I know to lock them. Our company has a trailer I borrow from time to time with that kind of hitch. If it was mine I would replace the hitch.

Is it a part of the surge brake set up? I'd call the manufacture and ask them about the set up. If you are uneasy with the coupler set up, just get a new acuator and be at ease when towing. It not a hard job to replace it and they start around $ 120 and sometimes even less but you won't be stressed out when towing worrying if it's going to jump off the ball. How far are you towing to launch?

I tow anywhere from 30 min to 1 and a half hours. I am not worried about it jumping off of the ball, it actually seems more secure than the lever style.
