This type thread appears on here every now and then. Answer is, personally, I have never ever heard of even one boater coming back in and finding their trailer gone. However, a simple lock on the trailer hitch and one for the receiver hitch pin, if you have that type setup, is basically all you can do realistically. With so many trailers in the ramp parking lot, others will notice if some one is cutting either lock off for sure. A little trust in humanity is needed as well. JMHO
Yup, I was just going to say didn't we just do this one about a week ago?

Super thrilled to pick up our new Starcraft Toon tomorrow on new galvanized Shorelandr tandom with breaks.... fear is.. if I was a criminal, I'd sure like to steal the trailer off my tow vehicle while I was in the lake floating around.... that said.. I've got locking pin and also want to purchase case hardened chain to run though the trailer frame back to the hitch holes. Abus? any other security chain you guys are aware of I should consider. thanks much...

You people writing these post must be living in a really bad part of the country. I live here in Eureka Ca. one of the busiest salmon and halibut fishing port's on the north coast, and supposedly the highest drug related city in California. I've also worked on boats for the last 20 years and have never heard of one trailer being stolen at a boat ramp, and have never seen one chained or locked. Sad place this country is coming to when there is no punishment for the crimes being committed.
