Re: Transducer mounting!

Just read your boat warranty statement regarding "alteration and modification" of your hull. There are 2 reasons that the manufacturers make that statement...to protect themselves from acts (by anyone...including the dealer) that occur after the boat left the factory and to protect you from yourself. Also, familiarize yourself with the disclaimers which accompany the electronics installation instructions regarding "incidental and consequential damages". That clause is an indemnification to the installation of their products. There is an abundance of information on the net, much of it well-intentioned, regarding how to drill holes in your boat hull, none of which accompanies any liability. Note: The next time your dealer offers to install you sonar transducer, ask him for his liability statement. Chances are his enthusiasm, or rapid lack of, will address your question.

Re: Transducer mounting!

Well, I feel much better today than yesterday. I went home last night and removed the 2 screws for mounting the transducer and the 2 screws used for securing the transducer cable to the transom. I then cleaned the holes and screws with acetone and then applied the 4200 to the holes and screws. Then I put the screws back in. The only slight worry I have now is if I picked a good location for the transducer. I did what the the instructions said and put it as close to the center of the transom as possible while avoiding possible disturbances as much as possible. I feel I did that but will test this weekend. I thank everyone fort he posts and next time will check on here first before doing something because had I done that with this-I am pretty sure I would have used a mounting board of some type.
Happy boating!
