Last year I had some growth on my transducer for the depthfinder. I just took a scrub brush to the unit and it was fine. Wound up cleaning it off 2-3 times during the season.
I was at the marine supply store yesterday and I see a spray can of "transducer anti-fouling paint" for almost $20. From the little bit I could read on the side of the can it appeared to be a watered down version of regular bottom paint (I use Interlux Micron ablative).
So, here are my questions. Is this just another rip-off? Can I use my regular bottom paint instead? Or is it a worthwhile product? Or should I just keep the scrub brush handy?
