By putting them all here it makes it easier to have my wife look at them and help pick one out

You're welcome Skibum! I thought I would expand on jcupo6's idea, this is helping me also, I want to repaint my boat eventually and give it a more modern look.

Instead of purple, what about a bit of black and perhaps red. Or a deeper purple. I'm thinking multi colour on top of the yellow. Just my 2 cents worth. At least a black rub rail.

Thanks Bob Superpop, and Mitch for the ideas on the dash, I will look into them all.
Thanks Bman1bpm and Friscoboater, I do really appreciate complements.
DionysusBacchus, Thank you, thank you , thank you, Those are great and very helpful.
Please keep the photoshop pics coming. I hope Vegasphotoman will chime in.

Ski...somewhere in this thread do you have pictures of the Gel Coat you put on the swim deck? I'm considering it for my deck, but not sure if I'll be able to put it down..I don't want to have to spray anything..is it anything like laying down resin? I thought somewhere I read it was a polyester product?

I like the very first one DionysusBacchus posted. Great work from him! All of his ideas were good.

Tallcanadian, The rubrail is aluminum with a black rubber strip. Purple is for the wife (her favorite color) and using multiple colors is more money but If the pattern is worth it I would considder adding another color since I wont need much.
Mtribe08, It is a poly product. For the swim deck I used the same gelcoat, I just dabbed the side of a foam brush in it to give it texture. You could roll it on I am sure but you may want to ask ordvnr about it.
Thanks System f
Ezombee, I am leaning toward the same one at this point but I think I will let the wife pick it ultamately.

Looking good! That yellow sure stands out!

Some of those paint option pictures were taking me back to the 90's!:D

Keep up the good work! When you and mick are done with your boats, we are not going to have anymore entertainment...But i guess all good things must come to a end!

Keep it up, the finish line is near!

Thanks Isaacm, Dont worry there will be others next year rebuilding their boats. As long as they keep building boats with wood in them there will be a constant source of entertainment. And its only a matter of time before I find a cuddy cabin to upgrade to. And I am sure I will be rebuilding whatever I get.

Man your boat is looking great. I'll see what kind of designs I can dig up on the net. The yellow really pops and with the trim and what not will probably stand up on it's own.

My oldest boat a watch with the face in purple that is really cool. I'll take a pic and post it as the shade will probably work well in your graphic.

Ohh Sprintist you gave me an idea. My favorite painting years ago was Dali's persistance of memory. Maybe somehow incorporating the melting clocks into the paintjob. Time melting away kind of fits well with boating. hmmm just a thought.

By the way I think I may have come up with the name. "SANITY" My neighbor suggested it since this project has kept me sane with the wife gone and me being the only one to watch our 2 and 4 year old daughters.

Re: transom and floor replacement

I am taking a short break from working on the boat while I wait for the vinyl samples and try to find seats. Tonight I got 3 sheets of 5/8 drywall put up on the ceiling of the garage. 7 more sheets to go to finish the whole thing. I figured this is a good time to finish the project since It makes me move everything in the garage so I can clean the yellow off. I only got 3 sheets up because I have to rewire as I go. The garage only had 2 outlets. Now 12 plus 4 on a switch for the lighting. I also burried my propane line under drywall and the pex tubing for the spigots on the front and back of the garage. Did I mention 5/8 drywall is very heavy. especially putting it up on the ceiling by yourself.

You're a good dad dude. I did my basement drywall a couple sheets at a time after the kids were sleeping too.

Sanity is looking good right about now. I'm looking at melting some time away in the boat this summer as well. I almost kicked the a** of some guy who flipped me the bird in traffic today :)

You can almost picture the stress melting away on the water...no one can jam on the brakes out there :)

Wow this is a LONG thread, I havent read it yet...Ill definetly have to spend a few hours going through your thread to really see your work in detail...awsome job so far SkiBum!

Well....me not being a fan of purple with yellow....I still made some design mock ups....tried to keep it somewhat simple...Skibum, look at marketing images form name brand products with yellow as a mian color, they mainily use White/Black/Red with yellows....cant go wrong with billions being spent annual on marleting they have thier colors down to a science

...here are my mock ups..............

Re: transom and floor replacement

You did an awesome job.

I have a 1986 Regal ( I'm the original owner) - kept in boatel all this time. The boat looks great but last summer I caught a rock inbetween the outdrive and the transom which started a leak. Insurance says transom is soft. Had the engine (4 cylinder Mercruiser) removed. Engine and outdrive are great. The insurance guy says the transom and the stringers need replaced. I've never had a leak before and the boat has always been kept inside when not in use. Do you know where I can get a second opinion on this ? I am in the state of Virginia.

Take some core samples of the transom. Take a drill bit and carefully drill shallow holes in the transom (do not go all the way through it). If the wood chips are clean and dry, then the transom should be fine. but if the wood chips are wet and rotted, then it is time for a transom replacement. Make sure to drill in sever different area's. when all done just fill the holes with some 3M 5200.

SKIBUM1M,
I like the vegas mock ups the best. I wish I could help but not able to at this time. A couple of the ones from Vegas are similar to what I had in mine.
