Transom Angle

From where is the transom angle measured? From the top of the gunwale or from the bottom of the boat?

The angle is the same whether its at the top or the bottom. The "measurement" is degress off vertical.

Measure at the bottom.Use a carpenters square.Place the long side along the keel so the short side touches the transom measure the distance from the bottom of transom to the square.
Each 1/4" is 1 degree.Just post how to measure transom angle on google.
Measuring at the bottom gives a stable surface for the square to sit against.
