Good morning all! :D
I need a bracket for my 1963 40 BigTwin. Just wondering if anyone out there has a deceased engine that has an ok bracket on it. I doubt if I could get a new bracket for such an old engine but I would be happy to be proved wrong.

Regards
Tich

One other thing,if I may. I also need a new prop. Any help on which prop and a supplier would be a great help.
 Tich

Re: Transom bracket

Tich, for the bracket you could try tcoutboards.com, Americanoutboard.com and of course there's always Ebay. As for the prop you should probably stick with same dia/pitch that you have now unless there were performance problems, Props can be found here at Iboats (cick on the lttle prop at bottom of this page), also Michiganwheel, Ebay, Maxrules.com etc.

Hope this helps ;)

Re: Transom bracket

Hello, me again!
Just had a look at the props. Sorry if this is a dumb or frequently asked question but how important is the pitch of the prop and how do I find out which pitch Ill require. I noticed on another thread that there should be something stamped on the old prop. I cannot see anything on the old prop (it has seen better days) so Im at a bit of a loss as to what to get.
Sorry again for being a pain! :(

Re: Transom bracket

The pitch/diameter of the prop is important in so far as obtaining the optimum rpm range for the boat and motor combination/settup, various factors come in to play when trying to determine this such as the type of boat, boat length, total surface weight and the size of the motor etc.

Post the info for the type of boat this motor is going to be used on, type/length etc.

Have a look behind the washer just ahead of the drivepin. Sometimes the pitch numbers are there. If not, check the crevis at the back of the prop between the hub (middle part) and the part the blades attach to. Use a nice, strong light.

Re: Transom bracket

You can take the prop part of your question to the Props Forum, tich. Lot's of good advice there.

As for being a pain. . . not so. If nobody had questions Paul and others of us would die of boredom. :)

Re: Transom bracket

tich, if you take the old prop to a prop shop, they can easily tell you the pitch and may be able to rebuild your old one.
