Thanks for the input.
It is a Bass Boat. 1987 Ebtide DynaTrac
And yes, i will be replacing all the wood.

Can this project be done while on the trailer?
Should i make a jig to keep the integrity of the lower half after the cap and rotten wood is removed?

yes....its called a cradle.

you can even make the cradle on the trailer if needed.

and since wood and poly or wood and epoxy will outlive you, why waste money.

Could anyone post a link to what type of supports or bracing I would need to do this on the trailer.

I cut sections of plywood to match the profile and used both 2x4's and 2x6's in between sitting on the trailer frame

You can build a cradle on the trailer, by using a 2"x 4" and put up 2"x4" upright that press the sides in. Or you can remove the boat from the trailer and build a cradle around it

Coosa is definitely good enough, its better then plywood as far as strength and rot resistance. It is expensive, but if you plan on keeping the boat, i'd say its worth it. Plywood done right may last 30 yrs but i find its the "done right" thats the tricky part. It doesn't take much for water to find a way in and once it does the wood will rot. There are other composite materials that are also made for transoms that are a little less then coosa. I'm waiting on a guy who has some ordered in and plan on using it in my transom.

So I want to take the motor and cap off at one location and do the wood work at another. Is the integrity of the lower shell from the stingers and fiberglass or from the cap? I want to be able to transport the lower shell only without compromising it.
