Transom thickness and coupler

Have guys in the process of a rebuild of a 1985 wellcraft elite transom is in. It measures 1 and 13/16ths thick is this ok or will the drive shaft bottom out in the coupler I now the manual says 2in but is this close enough? Thanks O its a 5.7 with alpha 1 drive

Why not glass up another 1/4" board and make it right?

By the book.... Transom thickness - to be 2" Minimum to 2-1/4" Maximum....

As BD said, glass up another 1/4" and you don't need to wonder.

BTW, it's not just the depth of the coupler that is of concern. It also affects alignment.

Ok thanks I had planed on building it up but figured i would see if it was that big of a deal to be out by that little. When i tore out my old transom it was only 1 and 3/4 thick? And was definitly original Thats why i ask!
