Well, after removing then ENTIRE interior of my boat, gas tank, and such, im down to the floor, floor was wet, not rotted..wet....foam was water logged, made a post for that...(btw, thank you all for the help). So, before i wen't to crazy, i started removing the rear part of the floor in the engine back, and ripping out the glass that was holding in the wood floor.
Well, i drilled some holes on the engine mounts a few weeks back....wood is DRY as a bone, so..i just assumed the transom was good, i check the transom and it wasn't rotted in one area.
Today, as i was curious about the foam in the stringers, i drilled a hole in a stringer, more closer to the rear of the boat...(right by the engine)....the 3/8 bit came out wet. So, i thought, let me drill a hole in the transom closer to the bottom, i got as close to the bottom of the bilge as i could, drilled threw what seemed like 1/4 thick fiber glass, finally i see WOOD!!!... However, the wood wasn't doing what it should be doing by coming out in dust, rather it was coming out "moist". It's not rotted, but moist, im about 3inches from the bottom of the bilge.
What are the odd's of this drying out if i remove the lower unit and let it breath? It's not rotted, its damp. Wood is cherry red when drilled out, no black in it at all?
I know if im going threw all this trouble to replace the floor, and re-foam in and spend a few hundred bucks i should prolly replace the transom, however..I HONESTLY don't feel comfy doing so.
I found some interesting threads from this forum using google when i searched, however, no one ever came back to post there results? I may drill some more little holes near the bottom, and some more on the top, let it "air" out..or ill remove the lower unit?
