Re: Trees on my property and my neighbor

Having dealt with our local power company about power lines across the front of my home, the main power line was completely encased in a 1 foot limb on a massive black walnut tree I have in my front yard. I called and explained how the wire was being pulled, and was very tight; all the neighbors agreed it was a serious issue. They always said they would come out and inspect/remove but after 4-5 calls they were feeding us lip service. I then called and explained that I saw sparks, to which, they immediately came out and hacked the heck out of my nice tree.

around here (tx) the elec co doesn't want you touching any limbs within 15-20' or something like that. i'm sure the idea is they don't want you hitting the lines. better for everyone if the pros do the trimming...and free. they'll hack the tree back pretty harshly or remove it if it's too close to the line. you can ask for the mulch too.

Put a video recorder there and if they do fall you will get plenty from youtube adds to buy a new garage and maybe some fuel for the boat.

Update: I met with my neighbor, she was pretty nice and told me there was a limb that had fallen in her yard. There was also mention of a tree. Took a look out back with her. This is what we found.

I had a tree that broke. It is hung up, goes from lower right to upper left. It also clipped a branch on a second tree, runs across the top of the photo. I could not see this from the north or south corners.

The good news is all of this is on my property. Nothing here could hit her house or garage.

She was not worried about any other tree or branch out there.

I want to thank everyone for the input, I learned some very good information. I realize I or we will need to address the tree line at some point.

So now I have to get the tree down and cut it up and I'm good, for now.:)

I was thinking that the roofers told her the leaning trees above her garage caused the roof to fail early.
And will fail early agian unless the trees hangin over the garage are not trimmed back to let the sun shine on the roof.
And that was all she was worried about.

Jason -It ain't over till the fat lady sings, or the tree is down and stacked.

JM10 - It will be stacked and ready to burn next year - If you pay me a lot of money or give me a 14 -16' starcraft - yes you can have the wood.;)

Jeep - I had the same thought about the garage / trees. I'm going to look and see if I can get some of the close branches away from it to start the process. You wouldn't happen to have one of those extended / tube chain saws I could borrow, My sister lives in FL and she's flying up soon. Maybe she could bring it along. I promise I'll return it real soon.:D
