Seems to me I've seen something here in the past on the difficulties in replacing the impeller on a Tohatsu/Nissan 5 hp 2 stroke. ( but can't find anything now that I need it. ) My motor ( 92' vintage) is not spitting watter out the tell tail when it's idling or wide open. Seems to pump OK at about 1/3-1/2 throttle only. Figuring it's time for an impeller and am debating doing it myself.
Any help/thoughts/tripping points appreciated.

Two bolts holding the lower unit on and loosen the shift rod bolt...Do not replace just the impeller. Use a kit with a new liner and wear plate.

Figures. Stopped at the Tohatsu dealer today and he sold me an impeller (only). Swore that was all I needed. I tended to think otherwise but he was convincing. That was $16 down the tubes :-(

Thanks Elvin, YOU I trust.
I'd better go order a full kit now.
