hi again you guys, i am trying to get my force 1998 120hp 4 cylinder 2 stroke outbord engine to work i been working and solving doubts in this forums, we had changed all the gas hoses water hoses,we service the gas pump, changed the primer bulb, etc new batteries, everythjing is working fuel and water, the engine works great starts very good almost every time in the first two tryies also checked compresion ansd it's good, the the engine seems to be working great and then it starts to lower the rpm till it stalls, and it doesn't matter if you are in iddle speed or 2000 rpms. so if i'll had to bet on something i'll bet that it is a electrical problem. but now i am no boat mechanic can somebody help me suggestions, etc.... thank alot you guys .... great forum and very nice people... merry christmas

I agree with Max. Check your tank vent to be sure its open. Start it again and when it starts to die, try pumping the primer bulb. If it acts like it wants to run then you still have a pump problem.

ok thankyou for your replies i just tryied what you suggested the engine was shutting down and then i pump on the primer bulb and the engine still shut down i did antoher try but now since the engine started i was pumping on the primer bulb to keep the transparent new gas filter filled up to 1/2 , but still shut down. if i leave the primer bulb alone the filter stay filled up less 1/4 always. if i manually accelerate the engine when it is shuting down it will never stop. my air intake for the filter is in the area where you fill the tank it has two hoses one bigger than the other but is common sense wich one is the air intake. the air can flow freely. any other suggestions...... thankyou

If I read that correctly you are saying if you advance the throttle, the motor will keep running. If that is the case, do a link & synch according to your manual. If not you need to rebuild your carbs. Then do the link & synch. Has this motor sat for a long time without being ran? If so read this http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086

Pull your plugs after the engine shuts down and see if they are black. It sounds to me that it is running too rich and is loading up. I would clean the carbs and set the idle and idle mixture before changing any electrical parts.
