After going under in fresh water my 85HP Yamaha engine has been dried out and carbs cleaned and it works but the tilt and trim does not. There is an ominous click when I turn the switch (like a car starter motor jammed). I can not get to the hydraulic motor as the engine is stuck down and seems to cover two of the screws on top of the motor. One electrical expert thought it was a relay and replaced this but it still clicks in the engine when turned on. How do you release preesure to get the engine up and out of the way in order to look at the hydraulic pump? Any suggestions to help out? DINFISHER

Re: Trim and Tilt not working - Yamaha 85HP

the trim unit is designed to be under water. kinda like the lower unit.
how many wires come out of the trim motor harness?
have you tried taking the wires directly to the positive and negative battery terminals and bypassing the relay ?
I hesitate to say what wire as international motors are sometimes different that US models. but the two wire motors are all the same. blue to + and green to - and it runs in the up direction. reverse the leads to go down.
on the stbd bracket about the water line will be a hole. inside that hole is the manual release valve.
