trim and tilt switch question

I have a tilt switch on the shifter at the console and a up/down tilt switch on the side on the motor. How come I can only tilt down the motor from the shifter, but i can tilt up and down from motor switch? Is this normal or there is a problem with the switch on the shifter? <br />Also, when I lift the motor up, fluid leaks from the top of the cyliner where the shaft push the motor up. <br />The plastic O-ring seal looks worn. Do they sell part for this, Is it easy to replace? <br /><br />I know nothing about boats and motors. Please help me out<br />Thanks in advance!

Get that control unit switch checked out. and get that seal fixed pronto

Thanks Ynot<br />Its a bad switch. I jsut replaced it.<br />Do you know what type of fluid i can use for the power tilt? <br /><br />Thanks in advance.

Yes, they sell power tilt and trim fluid at your dealer or hear at iboats: http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=4145&current_category=tilt trim fluid&cart_id=654022970 <br /><br />Make sure to read the instructions on your engine bracket carefully when you are filling the system with fluid. You must tilt the motor completly up to unpressurize the trim and tilt system. Also, follow any other instructions that you find.

Yeah. Be sure and read the instructions for your engine. Some need to tilted all the way up, some need a support. Don' try it 'til ya know for sure.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
