Every time I brought my boat on plane today, I heard an audibile alarm and a message indicating "trim fault". The boat came on plane without any problem that I could tell. I could not find any information in the owners' manual regarding this message. Any idea what this might be? Should I be trimming the outdrive up a little after coming on plane? My boat is 240 SeaRay Sundancer.

Re: trim fault

coming out of the hole, trim all the way down, as it comes on plane trim out, till you get optimum performance. keeping the trim all the way down, pushes the bow down, causing it to Plow, instead of getting on top of the water.

Re: trim fault

Thanks, Tashasdaddy. What part ot the rocker button lowers the trim down (creating bow up)? I assume all these rocker switchs are the same but I can depress the top half or bottom half. Also, any thoughts on the Bennet auto tab system?

Re: trim fault

push the down side to lower the drive, up to raise it. up lifts the bow. bennetts are great, but smart tabs are also.

what engine and drive do you have?

Re: trim fault

External trim tabs still don't take the place for understanding how to properly trim your out drive....

Can't find anything on that particular error - might call the dealer.
