96 Mercury 75hp

Just a quick question. The trim gauge on my dash is always at the top of the gauge. I checked the back of the gauge and all wires are connected with no corrosion. Is there a way to test the gauge?

I was thinking if I hooked up my Fluke multimeter somehow, I could check for the proper voltage. I have no idea which wires to test, and I don't know what the normal voltage is. I've been looking online for this info, here, but have been unable to find it so far.

Power wire is probably red, maybe purple to ignition for power. Check for voltage with your meter. If no voltage replace gauge.

Trim sender is just a potentiometer down by the transom bracket pivot. Very prone to failure, corrosion. Find unit and pull wire, if trim meter goes to zero sender is bad.
