Trim Gauge

Took my boat out for the second time of the season yesterday and noticed my trim gauge isn't working. I am "assuming" I have rotten wires because the bow up doesn't work either, but the trailer button does.

Now here is my question for the pros. When I tapped on the trim gauge (which reads down all the time) my rpm gauge jumped all the way to the peg and then back down to where the engine was idling. What the heck causes that??

Oh, it's an '88 4.3L Merc. with the Alpha I "Sea Ray" outdrive.

Re: Trim Gauge

Sounds strange... maybe a bad connection on the back of the gauge or a bad gauge, To tell you the truth, I wouldn't worry about it too much if the tach. works. Also, your trim limit switch is the one stoping the trim up button from working, you trim sender is on ther other side of the drive and runs the gauge. Sounds like both of yours are bad.
