I donno why it would just take a crap like that!! I was give it a couple taps with a hammer!! What ya think? time for a new trim motor? I just cleaned this trim motor up cause it was sitting for 2 years!!!

Step one....... Check ALL of the connections and the charge in the battery.

It is necessary to FIRST disconnect the battery and check every connection by using a wrench.... loosen the connection, clean it and re-tighten.

It is amazing how connections get corroded over time.

It's also very common to see problems with the "up" and "down" solenoids. They'll go 'click' but pass no juice. Try jumping around the solenoid (or jump directly to battery +12V). If the motor runs, it's the solenoid. If not, you've got more things to check out. Watch out for sparks if you do this!!!!

Hey Wilson I dont mean to hijack your thread but I think you may be able to help me out with a few things.. Im having the same problem with my trim motor its on 1990 100hp merc. The problem is I cant get the darn thing off. There is'nt enough clearanc to get the motor off without pulling the pump out but it wont come out because it catches on the pressure release screw. There are some allen key holes in the end of the pin on the bottom of the unit but all that I can do with them is turn the pin itself. So I beat the pin out anyway and now there isnt enough clearance for the pin to come out and the hydrolic oil spilled out of the pin. As you can see I am not overly mechanically inclined but do try to figure these things out . When you hoist a motor where do you braced it Do you think I wrecked anything by banging out the pin without loosing the allen screws. Here is a couple of pictures of what I have going on now. Some advice on my situation would be apprieceated
