Trim Motor

The three wires coming from the trim motor,Green, Blue, Black. Is the Black a ground or does it connect to the starter soleniod? My trim motor has been tempermental so I decided to clean the contacts on the solenoids. Long story short I replaced the two starter solenoids and my trim motor still will not move. The solenoids click when power is applied and the boat motor turns over. Right now I have the Black wire from the motor connected to a lug on the soleniod. Should it be to ground?

Grounded the black wire. All is well.

All is not well. I have a short in this wire bundel. The trim wires come out of this bundel and the rest make connection in this big plug. The motor tilts up and down using the switch on the motor but not the switch at the helm. I have run wires from the switch at the helm back to the motor and the tilt works. What can anyone tell me about this wire bundel? The blue wire is for up the green is for down. The down was working intermitantly today but the up has not worked at all today. The problem has reared its ugly head a time or two since I bought the boat, I just thought I would fix it today by cleaning the connections. Y'all know how touble shooting wiring goes.

Can someone PLEASE give me some tips on the wire bundel in the picture shown above with the big plug. I ran new wires from the tilt switch past this bundel and my tilt works. Now the motor will not turn over. It turned over yesterday before I jumped the plug today. The fuel pump turns on all of the gauges work I have power to the soleniods. There has to be a short at the plug best I can figure. The wires that I by passed (green&blue) from the tilt hook to the starter solenoids so I tried jumping them back from the plug to the solenoid and still got nothing. I do not get light from my test light at the plug pins while turning the key. I do not know of any blown fuses. I can not find the diagram for this bundel. That would help. WITS END.

You need to ID what you're working on, Tshrt. Hard to offer advice without knowing what you have.

Thanks for everyones help. I understand how hard it is to diagnose and dicuss wiring issues.I thought I would post the findings.I have a bad quick disconnect. Bye bye to that connection I'm going straight wire point to point. I just love chasing electric grimlins.
