Trim not going down

Merc Alpha1 Gen 2 trim pump completely replaced both solenoids and pump. Rams are disconnected. Works from the throttle in the up and trailer position but when I go down it does nothing. What could be wrong?

The switch on the throttle. Do you get 12 v back to close down solenoid when you operate the down switch? Did u try to jumper down solenoid to see if it wotks

I did jump the solenoid and that works fine. I figured it would be the throttle switch. Damn.

Or the wiring from the switch take the switch out and test for continuity when you operate it. Wires could be chaffed in the throttle

When you figure out how to easily remove and replace defective trim switch in throttle, please let ME know.

It's usually just the 2 screws holding the throttle handle cover on, then another couple of screws holding the switch to the handle, but we would need to know which control you have... (there's about 37 different ones, and that are all slightly different)

My switches are sealed in top of shifter/throttle arms (plastic caps). And, they are old. I am afraid to try to pry out (if I could), unless I absolutely have to . So far, they haven't been an issue or failing, but sooner or later salt spray will get into them and develop corrosion. My Alphas had the same arms. One switch went bad, and I believe that I ended up cracking top cap. It has been decades, so I may not be 100% accurate..
