Trim problem Merc 3.0

Just opened up my 1999 Stingray after winter storage. I noticed that my trim goes down no problem but when I press the up button it cuts out after 2-3 seconds (goes up about 3 inches ) or does not engage at all. If I use the "trailer up" button the trim will go all the way up.

The battery is charged and all fluid levels are fine. Im thinking that the "up solenoid" may be cutting out but if so why does the trailer up still work (not sure if it uses the same solenoid.

Any suggestions?????

It sounds More like the Trim Limit Switch is headed South...........

I agree. It's on the port side of the gimbal ring. It can be cleaned. The cap is held on with four screws. Take that off and pop out the rotor after marking it's position. Clean it out, clean up the contacts with a pencil eraser, and cover everything with a healthy dose of dielectric grease. Then put the rotor back in, cap back on, and you shold be in business. At full trim, the distance from trim ram pivot to pivot should be 21-3/8"
