Happy 4th everyone!
Got an issue with my trim pump. Was having a problem with down solenoid grounding out so replaced and now the motor won't go up or down. I've checked all the wiring diagrams and its hooked in correctly. But rather I hit the switch or arc the solenoid posts it will struggle to work for just a second then clicks, smokes and stops. Pump gets pretty hot to touch when this happens. When I completely remove the motor and run it on a bench, seems to work fine, once in stalled.... -all this. Help is truly appreciated.

Ayuh,.... Sounds like either the motor is failin', or the pump is binding up,...

With electricity, Heat is resistance,...

I tried rebuilding the motor a couple years back. Put in a new cap w/ brushes and bearing. Looks like there's some kind of protective coating inside the cylinder if that stuff flakes off does it allow for a short or something? These motors aren't cheep so I'm trying to keep from replacing the whole thing. In the mean time I'm using a power drill.

Was having trouble with the down solenoid grounding out (no mention of trouble with up), replaced down solenoid and now it pops and smokes and gets hot, and won't go up or down. Sounds to me something is miswired, relay or pinched wire is causing a short or motor is shorted. My initial thought is miswire or pinched wire.
