hey guys im stuck trying to remove the two rods holding my T&T on. The pin connecting the hyraulic rod to the motor had a thread on one end, i theaded a bolt and slammed it with a slide hammer and it moved barely. The bottom pin I already messed up the threading that the muts go onto each side trying to hit it with a hammer. Im soaking them with pb blaster while I await suggestions.

as you see in 3rd pic i was driving it with a screw driver, the guy at the boat store said sometimes you can drive it the same way using an air hammer, but the space to get to it is at an angle and way a pain with the screw driver.

You may have to cut some of the port bracket away to get a good straight shot at the upper pin or else drill a hole in it. What you want to do is use plenty of heat, a BFH and a BRASS drift. By using the brass drift you won't mushroom out the end of the pin. If you mushroom the end of the pin you're Scr#%#d. Seeing where I'm from, been there and done all this. By the way, good picts.

hey boobie thanks for your response. Your opinion on notching the port bracket was among my options. So since you recomended this Im thinking its the logical approach. For me the real question is going to be how should I attempt to notch this bracket. Is this steel, alluminum, cast iron.... then what would be the best tools for that job. grinder, torch, drill...?

If you care to here my opinion, I just cant believe in all the years they have been using this same trim for the 50 hp that they havnt designed a better fastening system as far as service removal, or nothched the bracket, duhh?
I like the system they designed for the larger motors like my 90hp has. theres full visibility of the pin.

You can use a sawsall with the right blade in it as you'll be cutting alum. Since I came to Fl I've seen alot of these mts with either holes in that side or cut away. It was a pi$$ poor design. Just remember to use the brass drift or if you use an air chisel have a brass end in it.
