Trim Sender Loosening and not working (updated)

I recenlty had the Bellhousing of my Alpha replaced due to an underwater strike.

When I recieved it back the Trim sender worked fine but failed the first time out. The Mechanic came to my boat and said it had become loose and tightened it. It again worked fine but failed during the second time out.

At this point I do not know what came loose. I have looked up the replacement procedures and am now concerned at the work that may need to be done to correct this problem.

Any ideas what could cause this? I realy do not want him to break the factory seal on the belows for a washer or bolt that was not tightened correctly the first time.

Is it possible the correction could be found on the accessable side of the sender?

There are a couple screws that hold it tight and in place. They are accessible on the side of the sender - if they are coming loose, then it is as simple as tightening them again. You will need to adjust it so that your gauge reads correctly. Here's a link showing more info:

It would seem that the Hinge Pin had become loose.

So we used some loc-tite and torqued both of them to 95 ft/lbs. Then reset the limit and then the sender.

My trim gauge now reads higher in the limit position and is very touchy in the under-tuck to level range but I can get used to it.
