I just bought a 2011 searay 250SLX with the mercruiser 8.2 and bravo 3 outdrive. The sterndrive serial is 1a446515.
Im in trouble already. The trim gauge was not working so i thought how hard can it be to replace the sensor?
I found out fast enough that the drive has to be removed. Somebody blew it in this design. I can access the bolt to remove the wires that go through the transom plate without removing the drive but as i turned it about 1/2 turn out it appears to be bending. If i break that bolt im screwed. Im just hoping that it does not leak since i already backed it out slightly.
I found an article where someone simply ran the wires up the transom above the water line drilled a hole and passed them though a stainless steel fitting and connected them like that.
Here is my problem. The trim position sensor (starboard side) has two wires as does the quicksilver replacement but the limit switch (port side) has 3 wires. The switch that comes in the kit has only two.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
Thanks
