Trim tab no help

Hello,
A while back I posted that I have a hard pull to the right. I was told to angle the trim tab/exhaust snout to the direction it's pulling. So I did that and it made no differance. Then I angled it the other way. That made it far worse, so bad I could barly hold onto it. Now the tab is back where I had it. What esle can I do to get this motor to track straight?

Do you have Hydrofoils on the motor, and if so, have you tried removing them?

Nope, no hydrofoils. However about 80% of my skeg is missing. I have no idea what happened to it, I bought it that way. I will have a new one welded this coming winter.

Might look into the Teleflex NFB (No Feed Back) steering system.

I'd probably wait until I fixed the skeg before I made any major adjustments anyway. The skeg acts as a rudder somewhat and if it's gone, it's go to affect how the boat handles. You proved that to yourself just by turning the trim tab, which is less area that the skeg should be. How your weight distribution on the things that are "permanent", i.e. fuel tank/batteries/etc.

I've been missing my skeg for a year now but it makes absolutely no difference in the engine tracking. First thing you need to make sure is the boat is evenly loaded. Second, while the engine is "pulling" verify that it is oriented straight with the boat. If not, it would mean the steering is not aligned with the motor.

Get the skeg fixed.
It does help in steering.
Then if that doesn't work, get hydrolic steering.Best thing I ever put on my boat.
Was 20mi out of Ocean City.Md.
Catching tuna.
Mad a pass on the Hambone and was turning to go back and the steering went THUMP!!!
My twins were impossible to control when taking off.
Half way through the turn it went THUMP again and promptly stopped working???
Stripped the rack@pinion steering.
Was a muther to work our way back to the inlet. But we did catch fish most of the way back in.Tuna,dolphin,bluefish.
Luckily the place I worked sold me the Hydrolic at cost!!!
I love it.
